During His time at\u00a0the medical collegiate between 1983 and 1989, His Beatitude Sviatoslav simultaneously attended courses at\u00a0an\u00a0underground Greek-Catholic theological seminary.<\/p><p>From 1991 to 1992, He\u00a0studied at\u00a0the \u201cDon Bosco\u201d Center for Philosophical and Theological Studies in\u00a0Buenos Aires, Argentina. After which, He\u00a0returned to\u00a0study in\u00a0Ukraine, at\u00a0Lviv Holy Spirit Theological Seminary until 1994 when He\u00a0was ordained a\u00a0sub deacon by\u00a0Bishop Julian Voronovsky. He\u00a0was ordained to\u00a0the diaconate by\u00a0Bishop Filimon Kurchaba and His presbyteral ordination took place on\u00a0June 26, 1994 by\u00a0His Beatitude Myroslav Ivan Cardinal Lubachivsky.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 From 1994 until 1999, He\u00a0studied at\u00a0the Pontifical University of\u00a0St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy, where He\u00a0obtained a\u00a0doctorate\u00a0s<em>umma cum laude<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0Theological Anthropology and the Foundations of\u00a0Moral Theology of\u00a0the Byzantine Theological Tradition. During His studies in\u00a0Rome, He\u00a0provided pastoral care to\u00a0Ukrainian Greek-Catholics in\u00a0Athens<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In\u00a01999 to 2000, He\u00a0was Prefect, and from 2000 to 2007, He served as Vice-Rector of\u00a0the Lviv Holy Spirit Theological Seminary.\u00a0 In 2001 He became the Vice-Dean of\u00a0the Theological Faculty of\u00a0Lviv Theological Academy (now the Ukrainian Catholic University,) and from 2002 until 2005, He was the Head of\u00a0the Secretariat and personal secretary to\u00a0His Beatitude Lubomyr Cardinal Husar and Head of\u00a0the Patriarchal Curia in\u00a0Lviv.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 From June 2007,\u00a0His Beatitude Sviatoslav was Rector of\u00a0Lviv Holy Spirit Theological Seminary and on\u00a0January 14, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI blessed the decision of\u00a0the Synod of\u00a0Bishops of\u00a0the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church to\u00a0appoint Him Rector of\u00a0the Lviv Theological Seminary of\u00a0the Holy Spirit as\u00a0Auxiliary Bishop of\u00a0the eparchy of\u00a0the Protection of\u00a0the Most Holy Mother of\u00a0God in\u00a0Buenos Aires, Argentina. The new bishop received the titular throne of\u00a0<em>Castra di\u00a0Galba<\/em>.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His episcopal ordination took place on\u00a0April 7, 2009, on\u00a0the feast of\u00a0the Annunciation of\u00a0the Blessed Virgin Mary, in\u00a0St. George\u2019s Cathedral in\u00a0Lviv, Ukraine. In\u00a0the presence of\u00a0His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar, His main consecrator was His Eminence Bishop Ihor Wozniak, Archbishop of\u00a0Lviv, and His co-consecrators were Bishop Mykhailo Mykytsei, Bishop of\u00a0the Eparchy of\u00a0the Protection of\u00a0the Most Holy Mother of\u00a0God in\u00a0Buenos Aires, and Bishop Julian Voronovsky, Bishop of\u00a0Sambir-Drohobych, Ukraine.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On\u00a0April 10, 2010, He\u00a0was appointed Apostolic Administrator of\u00a0the Eparchy of\u00a0the Protection of\u00a0the Most Holy Mother of\u00a0God in\u00a0Buenos Aires, which had become vacant following the resignation of\u00a0the previous eparchial bishop, Mykhailo Mykytsei.\u00a0 In\u00a0September of that year, the Synod created a\u00a0special commission, composed mainly of\u00a0young bishops, including then Bishop Sviatoslav. This commission was tasked with formulating a\u00a0ten-year development plan for the UGCC. Upon completion of\u00a0the commission\u2019s work, Bishop Sviatoslav was already at\u00a0work in\u00a0another group aimed at\u00a0developing specific mechanisms for implementing the provisions determined by\u00a0the commission. Throughout His episcopate, Bishop Sviatoslav continued to\u00a0teach. When he\u00a0returned to\u00a0Ukraine for the Synods, He\u00a0gave lectures at\u00a0the Ukrainian Catholic University and the Lviv Theological Seminary. While in\u00a0Argentina, he\u00a0also delivered a\u00a0series of\u00a0lectures on\u00a0theological anthropology.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On\u00a0March 23, 2011, Bishop Sviatoslav was elected Head of\u00a0the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church at\u00a0the Electoral Synod of\u00a0UGCC Bishops, which was attended by\u00a040\u00a0bishops from all over the world. On\u00a0March 25, His election was blessed by\u00a0Pope Benedict XVI.
