\nHonoring Ivan Franko at St. Basil Academy<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, seven students of St. Basil Academy in Jenkintown, PA participated in the poetry recital contest honoring Ivan Franko (1856-1916) organized and sponsored by the St. Sophia Religious Association of Ukrainian Catholics, Inc., in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
The Judges: Iryna Ivankovych, President of the St. Sophia Religious Association, and Alexandra Penkalskyj, Vice-Principal of St. Basil Academy, graded each performance on the fluency of the recital, clarity of pronunciation, intonation, artistic performance, and expression.<\/p>\n
The winners of the contest were: 1st<\/span><\/sup> place \u2013 Anastasiya Bloshchynska (Gr 10); 2nd<\/span><\/sup> place \u2013 Emily Soares (Gr. 11); 3rd<\/span><\/sup> place \u2013 Elizabeth Gorodenchuk (Gr. 12).<\/p>\n When awarding the contestants, Dr. Iryna Ivankovych congratulated them on their excellent performance. All contestants were awarded commemorative certificates and gifts. The main sponsor of the event presented the winners with prizes.
