Fr. Marco Yaroslav Semehen – biography

 Fr. Marco Yaroslav Semehen was elected President of the Religious Society of Santa Sofia in Rome, a position he holds to this day, overseeing the patriarchal properties in Rome and also serving as a pastor at the Cathedral of St. Sophia in 2013. 

     Fr. Marco was born on June 25, 1980, in the city of Berezhany, Ternopil region, into a family of educators. After completing high school, he enrolled in the Josyf Slipyj Ternopil Seminary. 

     Following his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Oriental Institute, where he completed a Licentiate in the field of Liturgy, he embarked on his teaching career, delivering lectures on various aspects of liturgy. 

     In 2008, he was ordained a priest and returned to Rome for further studies. Since 2009, he has been engaged in pastoral work among Ukrainian immigrants in Rome, initially serving as vice-pastor of the personal parish of the Holy Martyrs Sergius and Bacchus. Subsequently, His Beatitude Lubomyr (Husar) appointed Father Marco as the National Coordinator of Pastoral Care at the Italian Episcopal Conference.
